Illusion hills - dillon brooks

After almost an eleven-month hiatus, those Orange County boys are back and here to stay. It’s only fair with a track name like “dillon brooks” that the Illusion Hills group goes three for three on this new Beastie Boys-esque release. I’m amazed by the group’s ability to keep this tune under wraps for a whopping 8 months. After speaking to Freddie (the group’s manager), he told us the target was “something big, something boisterous, and something super high energy." Safe to say that 30 seconds in, all those boxes can be checked and cleared.

Each verse punches the ears with 2010’s nostalgia and shatters whatever genre stereotypes previously held. For a second there, it felt like Fall Out Boy made a guest appearance on the outro. When you come out the gate with such an intense sound, fans can only think, “is this the start of a rollout?” This hyper-trap production is a pocket we’ve heard Illusion Hills dominate before. The fresh and nasty Deftones-esque guitar is the true cherry(waves) of intensity on top. Momma always taught me not to make assumptions, but boy, oh boy, do I smell a project brewing.

If this is a taste of what the guys have stored in the vault, I need an inside man to get me the album.
