Isaia Huron Turns Classics Into His Own On 'Cerulean Tapes'

Isaia Huron is undeniably one of the most talented artists to gain traction this year. The rising singer from Nashville, Tennesse, has one-of-a-kind vocals, full of life and tranquility, potent yet soft, and somehow always luring ears in a type of hypnotizing manner. After releasing the outstanding Bound EP this past summer, Isaia Huron is back to close out the year with a selection of covers on his new mixtape, Cerulean Tapes.

The new offering includes four covers from Floetry, Miguel, Aaliyah, and Drake. The first track, "Say Yes," is Huron's take on a Floetry classic, which he turns into a vivid unity of sounds, interweaving Floetry's words across a serene climate of faded pianos, guitar, and synths. He created an entirely new vibe for this song that stands up to the original, which isn't a simple feat. Track two covers Miguel's "Adorn," another ambitious challenge that the singer takes on fearlessly, expending his luxuriant harmonies over a style of guitar that is slowly becoming his own. Track three proposes Isaia Huron's attempt at "One in a Million," turning out to be a genius recreation. Huron shapes this classic into a modern, soulful voyage through his impeccable vocal range. The final showing, "Teenage Fever," blew me away with my first listen. As much as I hate to call something perfect, this cover is basically flawless and arguably better than the original. From catchy guitar strums to the addicting vocal tone, this track will free your mind and give weightless sensations.

Everything about Huron's musical package is more than encouraging, and this tape is just another addition to the artist's luminous allure. It's going to be exciting watching Isaia's journey to stardom and seeing him grow into his infinite potential. Stream Cerulean Tapes below.
