Calling all lovers of alternative R&B, electronic, soul, and good music,  Bensbeendead. has to be on your radar. The Portland creative holds a particular efficiency in merging genres and ultimately creating something new and unheard. The music welds a warm and familiar feeling from his influences, but the unique synth-scapes and use of cinematic-like percussion create atypical futuristic sensations. Creating art so comforting yet brand new is an incredible achievement that Bensbeendead. accomplishes on his new project, LOVELY CREATURES.

With eight tracks and zero dull moments, LOVELY CREATURES is a project deserving a front-to-back listen. The intro, "MANY MOONS," is a beautiful symphony with dreamy synths, ultimately evolving into a catchy alt-R&B arrangement, where Bensbeendead. compares his emotional phases to the moon. "HOW YOU LIKE IT" is a journey itself, with more lush synths and vocal chops, all building to a pop-rock-like chorus that displays Bensbeendead.'s commitment to adoration. The following track, "FEELS LIKE DANCING," introduces new funky elements, creating a sound like 80's pop meets 70's soul and jazz in the most fashionable way possible. "FRENCH EXIT" with Eva Honey sounds like it belongs in an OST, where the duo ask if they want to ditch the party and be alone (I took the party as a metaphor for life in general). Track six, "REPLICA," introduces an alternative indie-rock atmosphere where the artist shines his vocals on minimalistic production that leads up to another dynamic chorus. Here Bensbeendead. is trying his best to hold himself together, anxiously questioning if he's "just another replica." Track seven, "AMI?," contains creative= production using only vocals, creating different synths from vocal samples. This melancholic poem is a self-reflection of both pain and healing. The final, theme-tying track, "GIVE ME A CALL," sees Bensbeendead. holding on to love, as he desires to live up to his potential.

Bensbeendead. is one of the most refreshing artists I've come across all year, and this album pushes his creativity into new introspective levels. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind sound, and stream LOVELY CREATURES below.
