Get accustomed to hearing the name Alex Banin, and her music. The Chicago-based singer has been working on her craft, improving her sound with three singles last year and featuring on various projects. Her most successful release yet, "Hawthorne," has accumulated over 450,000 Spotify plays. Now, Alex is back and better than ever, gifting us her debut EP, DID I IMAGINE.

Mixing R&B, pop, and a touch of funk, Alex brings a distinct and creative sound to her new project. The four-track EP dispenses ethereal vocals over live drums, warm pads, and vibrant guitars. Alex's singing is on full display throughout the almost ten-minute run time, ranging from a groovy, upbeat offering on ”Closure" to a chilled-out tune on "brooklyn."

The first track, “Closure,” is a dynamic record with a nifty bassline. Alex puts a unique spin on this song, and she works magic on the chorus. “Rolling” is a collaborative effort with Saba, who lays down a fire verse (per usual) to pair with Alex's soulful vocals. On track three, the singer is rolling a backwood to “forget about it.” This catchy offering radiates with indie-pop vibes, and a music video was released to unite with the song. The final record, "brooklyn," is perhaps the most easygoing on the EP. Alex laces a more traditional R&B beat with divine harmonization.

Alex Banin is a true talent, and this EP proves she deserves a spot in the ever-growing scenes of R&B and pop music. I can't wait to see what's next for the budding singer. Stream her debut EP DID I IMAGINE below.
