Wakai & wavworld Ready Collab Project With New Single "a month ago"

Socials: Twitter / Instagram

Two of Baton Rouge's finest deliver the lead single to the next edition of their collaboration. Wakai, the twenty-one-year-old who raps well beyond his years, and wavworld, the jazz musician converted producer, are a duo that never underwhelms, as the artist's intricate lyrics create ripples in the producer's dusty tones. The two have collaborated in many settings throughout recent years, delivering multiple loosies, an entire collaboration tape in Away Game, Vol. 2, and an album cut from Wakai's debut, To a Dark Boy. Now returning for more, Wakai and wavworld release "a month ago."

The new single is quick to present wavworld's musical sixth sense, flipping an already lush Ego Ella May sample and adding even more color with detailed cuts and side-chained drums. Wakai's words complement a nostalgic atmosphere, reflecting on stray time, dense conversations, and life's nimble yet inevitable changes. His poetic mannerisms read like a journal entry, inviting listeners to an intimate page of his diary - a presentation that Wakai evolves with each offering.

Don't miss out on Wakai and wavworld's latest, and stay tuned for their upcoming project Travel Team, Vol 3. Stream "a month ago" below.
