The city of Philadelphia remains to trend upwards with music releases, as more talented artists are looking to become the next generation representing the city. One group in particular, Highest Basement Collective, continues to impress with releases from their diverse roster. After a soulful release from Moses Mosima this past summer, it's now IHATEYOUSHEED who steps into the HBC spotlight with the release of his debut album I Died Today

Of everything presented, it's SHEED's exclusive energy he creates that stands out most. While influence from the mainstream pops out on this album, SHEED can give every song a full taste of his style. Creating a familiar sound yet still being recognized as a unique artist is one of the most important aspects of music in 2021.

Throughout the project, listeners get a taste of high-energy tracks and melodic takes laced with euphoria. The intro hits listeners with impressive flows right out the gate, with an opening line, "Momma said don't go outside boy you gon die today" over haunting production. "Friends" is a standout single, which proposes comforting trap sounds with SHEED's distinct articulation regarding money fights with friends. Track three, "Nickelodean," resembles a song of today's modern virtual sounds. SHEED has no problem creating his vibe on this one, and T$AN offers a fitting verse for SHEED's universe. "Red" is another standout on the album, delivering a dreamy, R&B-influenced track with pitched vocals about the acceptance of love. "As You Please" is the most uptempo offering and simulates a club anthem. On "Pray," SHEED asks, "you gotta pray for me, if I died today would you sing for me?" This track delivers a mix of SHEED's talents heard on the album and integrates well as the outro. Most of the album is produced by IHATEYOUSHEED himself, and all features include T$AN, Andrea Valle, Kari Faux, KEY!, and Baby.com.

I Died Today is a showcase that portrays IHATEYOUSHEED’s abilities throughout all eight tracks. The personalized touch on each song helps the album become something other than just another hip-hop record. It's clear SHEED won't stop until he gets to where he wants to be, and he's ready for whatever comes next with the music. Tell a friend to tell a friend, and stream I Died Today below.
