Captain Morg Presents Hopelessy Blissful Sounds On Debut Album 'this is morg'

As pop and hyperpop sounds expand to infinite fashions, more faces arrive on the radar to share their take on the genres. One of the most talented collectives in the space goes by GORESET, home to some of the most promising names when you think of tomorrow's sound. Recently I came across Captain Morg, yet another member of this team who seems like they've already nailed a sound of their own. Now stepping into the spotlight for his debut album, Captain Morg drops his cohesive this is morg.

The seventeen-year-old creative tends to stay on the more tame side of the new pop genre, where even the use of heavy synths or commanding basslines will sound dispiritedly blissful. The intro track immediately sounds reminiscent of a 70's Italian film sample, soon presenting Captain Morg's comforting vocal approach dedicated to someone he deems "beautiful." Track two, "winter winds," offers a sound full of hope, where the singer attempts to let go of overthinking and counting seconds, eventually turning into a beautiful outro. "strangers" with mijaru stirs folk-rock guitar with more polished vocals. Here, Captain Morg realizes he's become out of touch with himself and his loving feelings. Track four, "gerald's song" (maybe referencing Gerald's Game?), is an ode to feeling stuck and lost in translations of love with 4cf. "i miss this feeling" shows flashes of an iconic 2000's alternative anthem from the sound to the lyrics. Track seven, "i try so hard," is a joyful, video game OST-sounding tune that opposingly holds a meaning of feeling no connection from a lover he's tried so hard to keep. Track eight, "winter depression," featuring Vaeo, delivers incredibly euphoric vocals, furthering the theme of conflict in love and guarding feelings.

As cohesive as the sound and instrumentation are on this project, Captain Morg's writing truly stands out above the rest of the sonic elements. Every song on this project holds original and addicting vocals and sounds, which are some of the highest qualities one could ask for in today's music. Don't be late to the mellow and beautifully hopeless sounds of Captain Morg. Stream this is morg below.
